The Daily Scoop has in the past welcome a lot od school excursions from primary and secondary schools in Wodonga. It is usually a great day out as many schools are nearby and the whole class can walk to the shop. We introduce the class to the background of ice cream making (which is a bit of a science in its own right), discuss favourite flavours, and of course let everyone taste the ice cream as well! Last year we appreciated a visit from Wodonga Primary School and they sent us a lovely letter, we hope to see them again!

Welcome to all our customers for the new summer season 2009/2010. We are starting this year a bit slower, with four days of opening – hours from 11 AM to 5 PM. When the summer season gets into full swing we will extend the hours to 7 days a week again. We will also stay open longer for Lounging on High, the first one will be held on 2 October 2009.
Follow us on Twitter for instant updates or come back to this website more often. We look forward to selling ice cream outside Wodonga as well, with few more outlets coming on board to distribute our product. Maybe there is going to be one near you

The Daily Scoop will open its doors for the new summer season on Saturday 5 September 2009. We will bring all our traditional flavours and hope to see many of our regular customers on the first day! In a way it feels like we never left at the end of the last season. To make the change more exciting we will run some new promotions – watch out for those right here on our website! And of course, as always, we welcome your feedback and suggestions.

The Daily Scoop is now running in changeover mode – we are preparing to go From Scoops To Soups. At present we maintain ice cream until the end of May, although we are limiting the number of flavours, and we have introduced initially two flavours of soups per day. The soups are available during lunch time only, are prepared off-site by a chef who will later during the winter season introduce new flavours and other types of comfort foods.
Flavours we have started with are:
- Sweet Potato
- Lamb Shank
- Minestrone
- Pumpkin
Soups is served with a generous slice of delicious bread supplied by a local bakery.

We will be holding the Earth Hour again on Saturday at The Daily Scoop as we did last year. In fact to make us different we will start earlier at 8PM so we can hold it for an hour as we close at 9PM. It will also be our last long night, as after the end of March our closing time is 6PM every day.

Jimeoin opening The Portas
Oh, yes – who could forget, and it is not St Patrick..!! The coming of famous Irish festival reminded me of the time when Jimeoin visited Wodonga to open the Porta sculpture. He is Irish – so why was I the one dressed in green? Well, anyway, Jimeoin has discovered the sole purpose of these sculptures was for Wodonga to show Albury who’s really got balls (on their side of the Border)… So this St Patrick’s Day let us drink to that !!!

At The Daily Scoop we have started the new theme for the month of March in anticipation of the event we’ve been all waiting for – The Wodonga Carnivale – this year the theme is Bizarre! Children from schools around Wodonga are preparing great exhibition of art in the High Grove park under the Water Tower, which you can already see as part of Todos Arte project run by Art Space and Wodonga City Council.

One of the entertainers will be Jugularity
There will be heaps of entertainment, starting with the Lounging into Carnivale with performance by
Nicky Bomba who has already staged a gig at Lounging last year. Street parade will start on Saturday 7 March at 4PM, and festivities will continue late into the night with many well known entertainers within the Wodonga CBD. The Daily Scoop is proud to have right outside their door the stage of “Strange on Stanley” with performers including
Jugularity,
Psycho Zydeco and JUST! Come along and have some fun

There will of course be “Carnivale Recovery” on the following morning with many local food outlets helping you with great coffee during the whole day. If you decide to hang around for the rest of the long weekend, there will be plenty to do still on Monday 9 March 2009!

We really have been hit with a hot Australian weather this summer… People are often commenting how good that must be for an ice cream business. Well – not all that much! Spare athought for this poor ice cream van:

Thank you to all who remembered that they first found their way to our delicious ice cream last year… and asking us when exactly did we open! Well – our 1st birthday is approaching fast. Keep your eyes open for the announcement of the BIG DAY and some special surprises!

After we closed due to bad weather on Saturday some customers have asked us “Why do we close on rainy days?” The simple answer is “we cannot sell enough ice cream…”
We had closed last Saturday and left a sign on the door which read “Closed due to bad weather.” We assess the weather every morning – being especialy cautious if it looks cold and overcast. Rainy, windy and cold days are not good for our sales, people like to walk around with a cone of delicious ice cream when it’s nice and sunny. If we believe the weather will be fine for at least good part of the day we make a batch of ice cream, sometimes we reduce the size and number of flavours. We open at 11Am every day, and by that time it is a bit clearer what the weather is going to be like. However, if the wind or rain picks up, and it remains cold we close the shop for the day. Our estimate of how much is going to be sold is sometimes accurate, sometimes we are left with a lot of unsold ice cream
